Jamshedpur, Nov 19: The five-day long tribal conclave- Samvaad- organised by Tata Steel Foundation concluded at the Tribal Culture Centre in Jamshedpur today.
The conclave which kicked off on November 15 to mark Jharkhand Statehood Day witnessed some stunning art forms and stories from tribal communities across the country.
Artists from tribal communities across India have come together to bring to life seven canvases depicting the tribal way of India at the conclave.
This year Samvaad hosted the first-ever Artisans’ Residency, which brought alive canvases by 25 tribal artistic geniuses from across India.
Under this, the plan is to paint 7 canvases, which will be an amalgamation of 12 tribal art forms.
The event not only marked the making of these unique pieces but also provide an opportunity to interact with the artists and collaborate to explore opportunities for providing a platform to these artists and their art forms.
On the fourth day, yesterday artisans through their individual group works mainly portrayed the role of nature in their lives and how its preservation is vital for a sustainable future.
The artists represented various tribes from states including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Jharkhand, Ladakh, Gujarat among others. Tribes from Oraon, Juang, Gond, Warli among other communities.
Samvaad 2021 brought together 187 outstanding tribal artists, home chefs, healers, culture crusaders and leaders in person in Jamshedpur, along with more than 4,000 women, men and children from communities of 87 tribes across 25 states and 5 union territories in India who have agreed to login to the dialogue remotely, in a bridgital format.
The online setup combined Webex platforms for interaction and YouTube for public viewership, which was being complemented by 110 community screenings by the extended Samvaad family, which allowed those who do not have access to devices or networks to also be part of the conclave.
