Daltonganj, Aug 26: Three persons were sent to judicial custody on Thursday for attempting to kill a tailor named Tawheed Alam in Daltonganj. The arrested trio includes the tailor’s wife, Gausia Perween, and nephew Irshad along with one Md Arzu.
Officer in charge of town police station Abhay Kumar Sinha said there was a bid on the life of this tailor on the night of August 17 around 10 pm. He sustained one injury from firearms. The tailor was admitted to a private nursing home where the single cartridge lodged in his body was retrieved.
Sinha said the case turned out to be a case of distrust and mistrust, doubt and suspicion within the family and between the tailor the husband and his wife.
The tailor had this lurking suspicion that his wife has illicit relations with Irshad. This made him aggressive and belligerent in his behaviour. He used to fight with his wife, call her names and used to insult and humiliate Irshad as well.
The humiliation made Irshad want to eliminate the tailor. He hired mercenary shooters for Rs 3.50 lakhs to kill Tawheed.
On the night of August 17, shooters Betab and Manjar attempted to exterminate the tailor but he only got injured with the bullet.
Palamu SP Chandan Kumar Sinha said that Betab and Manjar are yet to be arrested and only then clue to the weapon used in the crime or its recovery would be possible. This case was cracked by the police in just 7 days.
The SP said though Tawheed’s wife is not an active conspirator in the whole planning and execution of the murder attempt but she is an ‘abettor’ to the crime. She has been booked under section 120 (b) of the IPC which deals with conspiracy.
Perween played her card after the failed bid on her husband’s life. She kept visiting the nursing home where her tailor husband was undergoing treatment just to make everyone feel she is concerned.
She knew Irshad was after her husband but she did nothing to stop him from going such a long way to get him murdered.
Police see this as her silent approval of the crime.
