Daltonganj, Nov.2: The Jharkhand government had recently appointed 12 doctors in the Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH). This contingent consisted of 8 professors and four associate professors.
Out of these 8, five professors joined the medical college. MMCH’s Principal Dr. Shailendra Kumar said that out of the five doctors who joined the college, one left by saying that he wouldn’t be working there.
“We are left with just four professors here now. They remained with us during the recent inspection of this college by the NMC’s one-man team,” he added.
The government has announced a package of Rs.30 lakhs per annum for the post of professor and Rs. 24 lakhs for the post of associate professor.
Dr. Kumar said that the Principal cum Deputy Director of IGIMS Patna, Arjun Guha, made a two-day inspection (October 29 and 30) of this medical college in the capacity of the member of the medical assessment and rating board of the National Medical Commission. He inspected the wards and departments of the college hospital and noted down the faculty deficiency in the college which is quite obvious.
He further said, “We can’t afford to be happy to find that our deficiency percentage has scaled down from 65 percent to 62 percent. We stand cross-fingered about this inspection. Arjun Guha was cordial and cooperative. Never for a moment had he made us feel that deficiencies in this college are born by our apathy.”
