New Delhi, April 26: DCGI (Drugs Controller General of India) on Tuesday gave restricted emergency use authorisation to BharatBiotech’s Covaxin for children between the age of 6-12 years.
This development follows the Drug Controller General of India’s (DCGI) Subject Expert Committee (SEC) requesting additional evidence on Bharat Biotech’s Covid-19 vaccine, Covaxin, for use in children aged 2 to 12, according to sources.
According to sources, the SEC has recommended limited emergency use of Biological E’s Covid-19 vaccine, Corbevax, in children aged 5-12 years during a meeting on Thursday. DCGI will now give its emergency usage authorization permission.
The Corbevax vaccination is now being given to youngsters between the ages of 12 and 14. The immunisation campaign for children aged 15 to 18 years old began on January 3 this year. Covaxin is being given to them. On March 16, the drive was expanded to include children aged 12 to 14. Corbevax is being given to them. In India, children aged 12 and over are now receiving two Covid-19 immunizations.
