Srinagar, March 7: The death toll in yesterday’s grenade attack at Amira Kadal market in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir has risen to two.

Notably, around 4.10 p.m., suspected terrorists hurled a grenade near Amira Kadal Chowk, one of Srinagar’s busiest squares. At least 25 people were injured when the grenade exploded in the main Chowk, including one police officer.

Four of the injured were in critical condition. Police and villagers on the scene hurried everyone to the Srinagar state hospital in private automobiles and auto-rickshaws till the ambulance and police vehicles arrived. Later, at the hospital, a 75-year-old man had died from his injuries yesterday.

The attack took place in Srinagar’s most sensitive sector, and militants have attacked security troops with grenades at the same location more than a dozen times before.
