New Delhi: The Al Falah University in Faridabad has emerged as the central point of planning behind the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, which killed 13 people. Investigators have traced the plot to Building 17, Room 13, where four doctors allegedly linked to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad conspired to execute multiple explosions across Delhi.

How The Plot Was Funded And Conceived

According to the investigation, Dr Umar Mohammad, Dr Muzammil Shakeel, Dr Adeel Rather, and Dr Shaheed Saeed—all associated with the university—raised ₹30 lakh to finance the operation. They reportedly purchased 26 quintals of NPK fertilizer from markets in Gurugram and Nuh to create improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The attacks were planned to coincide with December 6, the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, with the intention of carrying out serial blasts across Delhi and NCR.

Room 13: The Secret Meeting Spot

Police sources revealed that the group met regularly in Room 13 of Building 17, which belonged to Dr Muzammil. The room served as their secret base where strategies were drawn up for attacks in Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh. Just a few meters away, the university’s laboratory was used to smuggle chemicals for bomb-making, with Dr Umar and Dr Shaheed coordinating the movement of materials to rented storage sites in Dhauj and Taga villages.

Evidence From The Scene

Forensic teams recovered electronic devices, pen drives, and two coded diaries from Room 13, along with traces of explosive chemicals. Investigators believe these were used to prepare ANFO, a high-impact mixture of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil, similar to the one found in the Red Fort blast. The massive haul of over 2,000 kg of explosive materials, including 350 kg of ammonium nitrate, was previously seized in related raids.

University Denies Any Role

The management of Al Falah University has publicly condemned the attack and distanced itself from the accused doctors. In an official statement, Vice-Chancellor Bhupinder Kaur Anand said, “The university has no connection with these individuals beyond their official roles. We strongly condemn any attempt to malign the reputation of our institution.”
