New Delhi, March 31: The Delhi Capitals have officially announced 20-year-old Abhishek Porel as the newest member of their squad, putting an end to the speculation around Rishabh Pant’s successor for the IPL 2023.
Porel has so far competed in three List A, three T20, and sixteen first-class matches. In first-class cricket, he has 695 runs at an average of 30.21, 58 catches, and 8 stumpings to his credit. Porel also scored half-centuries in the Ranji Trophy semifinal and championship games earlier this year.
David Warner has been chosen the Delhi Capitals’ captain for the current League season in place of Pant. For Rishabh Pant, who is still receiving treatment and recovering, Warner fills in as captain.
Axar Patel, an all-around player, has been appointed the team’s vice captain. The team has named Sourav Ganguly, a former captain of India, as its director of cricket. In the past, Ganguly has served as a mentor for the Delhi Capitals for the 2019 season.
