New Delhi, Nov 10: A Delhi court on Thursday reserved its order regarding Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandes’ bail request in connection with an alleged Rs 200 crore money laundering case involving conman Sukesh Chandrashekar.
After hearing the arguments made by the attorneys for both parties, special judge Shailendra Malik reserved his decision regarding Jacqueline Fernandes’ request for bail.
The court has listed the subject for hearing arguments on charges in the matter on November 24 and 25. The Court also raise questions, “Why did the agency not arrested her during the investigation?
Senior attorneys Siddharth Agarwal and Prashant Patil for Jacquline’s Counsel argued that the actor assisted the inquiry and her statement was recovered five times.
Additionally, they claimed that a supplementary chargesheet had been filed and that she was a lady who had not been detained during the course of the investigation. The court should not change this statement.
It was also claimed that she was unaware that the presents she received were from criminal activity’s revenues. She is qualified for bail in these circumstances.
However, the defence attorney for ED asserted that she has previously made attempts to leave the country. She refused to help with the investigation.
Additionally, ED’s attorney claimed that she is a foreign national with origins in Sri Lanka. His brother resides in Australia, her sister is abroad, and her parents are located in Bahrain. If her bail is increased, she might run away.
The attorney for ED stated that because the accused did not help in the inquiry, she cannot be granted bail just because she is a woman.
She had previously been granted temporary bail in the case by the trial court.
