Jharkhand’s performance in IIT selection drops, only 402 students selected this year

Ranchi, Nov 10: Jharkhand has ranked 14 across India in 2022 as far as the number of students selected for the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is considered. A mere 402 students out of 4,804 from Jharkhand were selected for IIT in 2022.

Notably, Rajasthan (2,184) and Uttar Pradesh (2,131) have been ranked first and second regarding the number of students. The director of IIT Bombay revealed the data on November 8.

Moreover, in 2015, Jharkhand ranked ninth as 412 students were selected. In terms of improvement, states such as Haryana (703), West Bengal (681), Gujarat (526), Tamil Nadu (436), Karnataka (421), Uttar Pradesh (2131) and Rajasthan (2184) have done better.

 

JEE Advanced

On August 28, JEE exams were conducted in 577 centres across 277 cities. On the basis of percentile benching, a total of 2,50,251 JEE (men’s) candidates were considered to be eligible. Female candidates were allotted an extra 3276 seats.  In 2022, a total of 20.06% of female candidates got admission to IIT.
