New Delhi, Sep 22: Lalu Prasad Yadav, the former Minister of Railways, Tejashwi Yadav, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and other accused were served summons by the Delhi Rouse Avenue Court on Friday in connection with a new chargesheet in the suspected Land for Job Scam case.

A new chargesheet submitted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was taken into consideration by Special Judge Geetanjali Goel, who then summoned each and every accused.

The CBI states that in a case involving the “Land for Job Scam,” this is the second chargesheet filed in the designated court against 17 accused, including the former Union Minister of Railways, his wife and son, the former General Manager of West Central Railways (WCR), the former two CPOs of WCR, as well as private individuals and a private corporation.

Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son Tejashwi Yadav and other individuals have recently been charged by the CBI in the purported Land for Job scam.

The CBI filed a case on May 18, 2022, against Lalu Yadav and others, including his wife, two daughters, unidentified Public employees and private individuals.

It was alleged that between 2004 and 2009, the then-Union Minister of Railways received financial benefits, such as the transfer of landed property into the names of his family members, etc., in place of the appointment of substitutes to Group “D” Posts in various Railway Zones. It was further alleged that in their place, the substitutes, who were either Patna residents themselves or through their family members, sold and gifted their Patna-located land in favour of the said Minister’s family members, as well as a private company that was under the control of the same family members and was also involved in the transfer of such immovable properties in their names.

Additionally, it was claimed that no advertisement or other public notice was made regarding these substitutes’ postings in Zonal Railways, yet Patna residents were chosen and placed in several Zonal Railways in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hazipur.
