New Delhi, June 27: The charge sheet against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in a sexual harassment allegation was listed by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court on Tuesday for consideration on July 1.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Harjeet Singh Jaspal said, “It is a lengthy charge sheet. It requires time to consider. The matter has been listed for consideration on July 1.”

The application for seeking monitoring of the inquiry in this case was withdrawn, hence the court dismissed it.

“As the charge sheet has already been filed, the application has become infructuous,” the judge said.

Nevertheless, the court stated that he may submit an application for monitoring when he believes it is necessary after considering the submissions of the counsel for the complainant.

Based on a complaint made by female wrestlers on June 15, Delhi police filed a charge sheet against MPs Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and Vinod Tomar in the alleged sexual harassment case. Additionally, the police had cancelled a POCSO complaint against Singh.

The ACMM previously heard the wrestlers’ motion for a court-monitored investigation into the situation. A status update on the situation had been requested by the court.

Delhi Police authorities filed a charge sheet in the FIR against the WFI chief On June 15 based on a complaint from wrestlers who were protesting.

According to Special Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava, the charge sheet has been filed under sections 354, 354D, 345A, and 506 (1) of the IPC.

Two FIRs were filed against Singh as a result of the wrestlers’ complaints in the wrestlers’ case.

One was registered under POCSO Act and a cancellation report was filed in the case of a minor wrestler. The second was filed on the Rouse Avenue Court in MP/MLA court by a number of wrestlers.

The POCSO case against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the head of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), was recommended to be dropped by Delhi Police on June 15 due to a lack of evidence. Following a statement modification from the juvenile who had accused the WFI chief of sexual harassment, this has happened. According to Delhi Police, there was no supporting evidence in the case.

“In both matters, Delhi Police officials said that in the FIR registered by the wrestlers, after completion of the investigation, we are filing a charge sheet for the offences under sections 354, 354A, 354D IPC against accused Singh and for offences under sections 109/ 354/354A/506 IPC against accused Vinod Tomar before the Rouse Avenue Court”, said Suman Nalwa, PRO, Delhi Police.

The Delhi police further said, “In the POCSO matter, after completion of the investigation, we have submitted a police report under section 173 Cr PC requesting for a cancellation of the case based upon statements of the complainant i.e., the father of the victim and the victim herself.”

Anurag Thakur, Union Sports Minister, recently informed protesting wrestlers that the charge sheet in the matter will be filed by June 15 and assured that an internal complaint committee of the wrestling federation will be established, with a woman serving as its chair.

The protesting wrestlers had stated that they will discuss with their supporters about the outcome of their discussions.
