New Delhi, June 1: The Hyderabad-based businessman P Sarath Reddy was given permission by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday to serve as the ED’s approver in an alleged excise policy case.

Reddy was given a pardon by Special Judge MK Nagpal on Thursday and was also permitted to take on the role of approver in the case.

The Delhi High Court recently granted regular bail to Sarath P. Reddy on medical grounds. Reddy is the head of a Hederabad-based Aurobindo Pharma company and is engaged in the liquor business, said the ED in court earlier.

The ED previously argued that Sarath Reddy had engaged in unfair market practices and actively plotted and collaborated with numerous business owners and politicians to get an unfair advantage in the Delhi Excise Policy, 2021–2022. In blatant violation of the objectives of the Delhi Excise Policy, the applicant led a nexus that used cartelization to dominate a sizeable portion of the market.

Previously, Delhi-based businessman Dinesh Arora turned approver in the CBI case. While moving an application Arora said, ” I am ready to make true disclosure voluntarily about the case and want to be an approver in the case”
