New Delhi, Oct 17: The Delhi High Court, overturning a Patiala House court’s decision, ruled on Tuesday that Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha can continue to reside in his government-owned bungalow and is not required to vacate it.

The Delhi High Court granted approval to a plea filed by Raghav Chadha, who contested the trial order that would have led to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat removing him from a government-owned bungalow.

In March, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat revoked the allocation of a Type-VII bungalow on Pandara Road in Delhi for the MP. He was informed that the allocation was cancelled because Type-VII exceeded his entitlement as a first-time MP, and he was subsequently assigned a different flat.

Afterwards, Raghav Chadha moved to Delhi’s Patiala House Courts against the Rajya Sabha Secretariat and secured a stay order in April to halt any efforts to remove him.

Subsequently, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat submitted an application to contest Chadha’s plea and contended that the court’s order could not have been issued without allowing the secretariat to present its arguments.

In July 2022, Raghav Chadha received the allocation of a Type-VI bungalow. In August 2022, he made a formal request to the Rajya Sabha Chairman for the assignment of a Type-VII residence. Subsequently, he was allocated a Type-VII bungalow on Pandara Road in Delhi.
