New Delhi: In response to recent intelligence alerts, the Delhi Police has significantly increased security measures around the Israeli Embassy and Chabad House in New Delhi. This decision follows the airstrike in Tehran on July 31 that resulted in the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and his bodyguard.
According to sources, senior officers convened a meeting to bolster the security apparatus surrounding these Israeli institutions in the capital. The enhanced security measures include the installation of numerous CCTV cameras and the implementation of a multi-layered security network.
A senior officer noted that additional personnel could be deployed if necessary to ensure maximum security. This move is part of a broader effort to safeguard the embassy and Chabad House amid heightened tensions following the recent developments in the Middle East.
On Thursday, Delhi Police issued a clarification regarding a false alarm on social media about “explosions” near the embassy. The post, which was a hoax, was later removed.
In recent years, the Israeli Embassy has experienced two low-intensity blasts, neither of which caused injuries. The security around the embassy was already heightened following the outbreak of conflict between Israel and Hamas last year.
