New Delhi, March 31: A family of six in Delhi’s Shastri Park neighbourhood died of suffocation after inhaling poisonous gas from a mosquito coil that had been left burning overnight.
A mosquito coil that was on fire tumbled onto a couch inside the family’s home during the night, according to preliminary investigation. The victims became unconscious as a result of the toxic vapours. They subsequently suffocated to death.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey, police learned about a fire that started in a home at Mazar Wala Road in Shastri Park’s Machhi Market around 9 am.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that nine individuals had been brought to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, Tirkey continued.
