New Delhi: Flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) faced significant disruptions on Sunday as dense fog continued to blanket the city, causing delays for more than 100 flights. Despite the challenges, officials confirmed that no flights were diverted or canceled.
Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) provided updates, stating, “Low visibility procedures are still in progress at Delhi Airport. However, there has been no impact on flight operations. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information.”
This marks the third consecutive day of operational challenges at IGIA, which manages approximately 1,300 flight movements daily. Reduced visibility due to heavy fog has been the primary cause of delays.
Impact Beyond Delhi
IndiGo Airlines reported that adverse weather conditions also disrupted flights to and from other major cities, including Amritsar, Chandigarh, Kolkata, and Lucknow.
“Due to adverse weather conditions, flights to/from Delhi, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Kolkata, and Lucknow are impacted,” IndiGo shared on social media. The airline apologized for the inconvenience and advised passengers to check its website or app for alternative travel arrangements.
Advisory for Travelers
Passengers are urged to stay updated with their respective airlines for the latest information and to make necessary adjustments to their travel plans as the foggy conditions persist.
