Dhanbad, Sept 5: The Deoghar administration will hold prize money open 4 km marathon at Digdigia Botanical Garden on September 10.

Deoghar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vishal Sagar along with Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Dr Tarachandra and Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Rajkumar Shah will inaugurate the race at 7 am on September 10 which will be held on the newly laid running track on the campus of picturesque Digdigia hill.

A district administration official said that the winner and runner-up of the marathon would get cash prizes of Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively while the third-place sprinter would get Rs 2,000. Besides it, a consolation prize would be also given to participants who get fourth to 13th position.

Youths between 15 years to 40 years of age can participate in this marathon. Interestingly, officials of the district administration would also participate in this marathon.

Marathon is the brainchild of DC Vishal Sagar to highlight the forest department’s unique Digdigia Botanical Garden of Deoghar set up on the outskirts of the township so that people could know about it and visit there to view rare plants and picturesque spots.

The official said that the last date of entry in this marathon is September 9. Interested persons can submit an entry directly at the district sports department or can consult Chandan Kumar (7260098424) or Rupesh Kumar Singh (7909041787) on mobile phone for the same.
