Dhanbad, Feb 28: The government of India has selected Jharkhand’s Deoghar district along with nine districts of the country for developing them as a tourism hub, said NITI Aayog Deputy Chairman Dr Rajiv Kumar in Babadham.
Dr. Rajiv Kumar, while talking with media persons, highly appreciated the facilities being provided to the devotees of Baba Baidyanath Dham and its picturesque. He said that there are great opportunities for developing the area as a tourism spot.
“Having seen the potential, the union government has identified10 districts across the country for developing as a tourism hub. Deoghar district of Jharkhand is also one of the districts among them. Under the project of the government of India, more facilities would be added to Baba Baidyanath Dham,” said the NITI Aayog deputy chairman.
Impressed by the tourist facilities arrangement of the Deoghar district administration, the NITI Aayog deputy chairman said that besides Deoghar, other picturesque districts of Jharkhand also have massive tourism potential.
The NITI Aayog deputy chairman reached Deoghar on Monday morning from Ranchi en route to Giridih district for the meeting. The government of India has selected the Giridih district of Jharkhand under development programmes for Naxals and backward areas in the country.
Earlier in the morning, Deoghar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Manjunath Bhajantri received Dr Rajiv Kumar at Deoghar airport. NITI Aayog special secretary Dr K Rajeswar Rao, Jharkhand government’s information and technology secretary KN Jha, personal secretary of NITI AAayog, deputy chairman Ravindra Prasad Singh were also with him.
The Deputy Chairman offered Puja to Baba Baidyanath at the temple where the DC felicitated him on behalf of the temple’s Shrine Board.
DC Manjunath Bhajantri briefed the NITI Aayog deputy chairman about the development of the tourist spots in Baba Dham and the facilities being provided to devotees.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Dhananjay Kumar Singh, deputy development commissioner (DDC) Kumar Tarachandra, SDM Dinesh Kumar Yadav, additional collector CBP Singh, senior DPRO Ravi Kumar, supply officer Amit Kumar, Rohit Kumar Vidyarthi and Prasant Dipak were also present with the district team that briefed Dr Rajiv Kumar.
