Deoghar, Oct 10: 35-year-old Akbar Ansari died today due to drowning in a pond in the Sarath block of Deoghar when he entered the pond to take out his reared ducks. The incident took place in Lokra Khonda of the Sarath police station area.
It is being told that like every evening, ducks were supposed to come back home but yesterday when the ducks did not return home, Ansari reached the pond in the morning and started taking them out by getting into the water.
According to eyewitnesses, there was a swamp in the pond and Akbar might have got stuck into it. However, by the time the local people took out Ansari, he was already dead.
On receiving information about the incident, ASI Arvind Singh of the local Sarath police station reached and took information about the incident on the spot.
Local BJP MLA Randhir Singh met the victim’s family and consoled them and, on the spot, contacted the local Block Development Officer on the phone and instructed him to make arrangements for housing and pension for the widow of the deceased and he himself immediately gave financial assistance of Rs 20,000 from his salary head.
