All these patients are classified into two categories based on the number of patches on their bodies. Patients with fewer patches are kept under the Paucibacillary (PB) category and those who have more patches are classified as Multibacillary (MB). The number of PB patient are 145 whereas MB patients are 105.
Notably, a national programme for the identification of leprosy patients is going on in the district. Talking to Lagatar24.com, the head of the leprosy eradication department Dr Vidhu Bhushan said that the field staff were doing hard work to find out the affected patients. He claimed that new cases of leprosy could only be identified due to their honest job.
