Jamshedpur, Aug 19: A depression over the adjoining Bay of Bengal is expected to result in heavy rain at isolated places othe ver south, central and north-western Jharkhand today. IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast in this regard.
Satellite pictures and other meteorological readings suggested that the low-pressure area over the northeast and adjoining areas of east-central Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh and Myanmar coasts with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level persists.
Continuing to move northwestwards, it has intensified into a depression over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through the well-marked low-pressure area over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining southeast Pakistan, Nagaur, Narnaul, Hardoi, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarpur, Behrampur and thence southeastwards to the centre of a low-pressure area over the northeast and adjoining areas of east-central Bay of Bengal.
The Ranchi Met Centre also issued an alert of heavy rain at isolated places in the districts of Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla and Ranchi this weekend (Saturday).
The weather office also issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over East-Singhbhum, West-Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan and Simdega.
