New Delhi, June 8: As Covid cases began to rise in some sections of the country, masks were once again made at airports and on flights. Passengers who refuse to comply may be de-boarded prior to take-off or classified as rowdy passengers, according to the civil aviation authority DGCA.
The CISF will be in charge of enforcing mask regulations. The new DGCA instructions come only days after the Delhi High Court ruled that passengers who refuse to comply with Covid safety precautions will be prosecuted.
The court, in an order dated June 3, urged for severe action, noting that the pandemic was far from ended. If the passenger refuses to follow protocol despite repeated reminders, health ministry or DGCA recommendations should be followed.
The court stated that they can be forcibly removed, placed on a no-fly list, or turned over to security services for further action.
