Ranchi: Police officers and personnel in Jharkhand wearing non-uniform sweaters, jackets, or shoes along with their uniforms will now face disciplinary action. Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta has issued a strict order ensuring adherence to the prescribed police dress code.
Strict Adherence to Uniform Guidelines
The DGP’s directive states that many police officers and personnel in the state do not wear their uniforms properly, violating Appendix 65 of the Police Manual. As per Rules 1052 and 1054, specific dress code and turnout regulations are outlined for all ranks of police officers and staff.
DGP Gupta noted that during his state visits and through social media, he observed police personnel wearing sweaters, jackets, and shoes of different colors, which is deemed inappropriate. He reminded that the state government provides an annual uniform allowance to all police personnel, yet many fail to comply with the dress code.
Mandatory Khaki Sweaters and Jackets
The new directive mandates that during winter, all police officers and personnel must wear only khaki-colored woolen sweaters or jackets. Additionally, rank badges must be properly displayed on jackets.
Enforcement and Disciplinary Action
The DGP has instructed district SPs, SSPs, commandants, and unit heads to ensure strict compliance with the order. Those failing to follow the uniform regulations will face disciplinary action.
