Dhanbad, May 8: In the wake of the trade union’s agitation, the Dhanbad district administration has clamped the prohibitory order under Section 144 CrCP at the gate of the Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Limited (HURL) Sindri from today.
Dhanbad Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Prem Kumar Tiwari in a notification has said that prohibitory order has been imposed at the gate of HURL Sindri to maintain peace, law and order and essential services.
“The action has been initiated on the application of the HURL Sindri project senior vice-president who has feared that due to the proposed two-day agitation (dharna) on May 8 and May 9, at the gate of the plant, production may be affected. So Section 144 has been imposed for the smooth function of the plant,” said the SDM in his notification.
The Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BJP ‘s trade union) has called for a two-day (May 8 and 9) dharna at the main gate of the plant demanding 75% of jobs to local youth.

On Sunday, BJP Baghmara MLA Dhulu Mahto who runs a separate union also demonstrated at the plant for jobs to local youth.
HURL Sindri Plant senior vice-president Dipen Ray told media persons that the plant has already given 80% of jobs to local youth so far. “If any organization/ individual has any doubt in the employment of local youth, it could be checked through proper channels.”, he said.
