Dhanbad, Sept 21: Authorities of De Nobili School Sindri are stumped to find an air gun from the bag of a class VIII student of the institution.

De Nobili School principal  Mausmi Mukherjee and vice-principal  B Kristlo jointly informed the media persons that the student had brought the gun to sell it to his classmate and before delivering it he was caught.

The principal and the vice-principal said that since the guardian of the student identified the arms as an air gun they did not inform the police and returned it to them with caution.

The incident happened on Tuesday but school authorities informed media persons today (Thursday).

The student had even made a video of the gun to display to his classmate for sale. However, the school authorities did not say at what cost the air gun was being sold.

On Tuesday, getting a tip-off, the games teacher and guard checked the bag of the student and found the gun. The guardian of the student was called to the school and informed about the recovery of a pistol from the bag. The guardian said that it was an air gun which does not require a licence.

De Nobili School Sindri authorities have been strictly monitoring the activities of students on the campus since  2022  after the mysterious death of a class X student in the classroom the same year.

Sindri police station officer-in-charge Prabhat Kumar Singh said that police had not been informed about the recovery or whether it was a gun or toy.
