Dhanbad, Sept 8: The non-teaching staff of the Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) have resolved to go on the agitation path from September 19 in support of their long pending 8-point demand including implementation of the 7th pay commission structure.
BBMKU Non-Teaching Employees Association, the frontal organization of the non-teaching staff of the university and constituent colleges, held a meeting at RS More College Govindpur and unanimously decided to launch an agitation for implementation of the due that have been denied to the non-teaching employees so far.
BBMKU Non-Teaching Employees Association’s President Sanjay Jha and General Secretary Bharti Prasad Sahu said that before going on the agitation path, a delegation will meet the new Vice-Chancellor Sukhdeo Bhoi to apprise him about the problem and long pending demands of the employees. If he gives a positive response, there would be no need for agitation, otherwise, employees will be left with no option but to begin a stir from September 19.
“Ironically, teachers of the university and colleges are being given the benefit of the 7th pay scale since 2016 but at the same time, the non-teaching employees who work with them under the same roof, are being denied for it without any reason. So, the Association would request the VC to give Rs 2 lakhs to the non-teaching staff as a festival advance against the 7th pay scale on the occasion of Durga Puja,” said Sanjay Jha.
Jha said that the non-teaching employees have high hopes from the new vice-chancellor Sukhdeo Bhoi, who is the regular vice-chancellor and able administrator. “The association believes he would address all pending issues of the non-teaching staff,” he added.
Besides all office bearers of the association, the representative of non-teaching employees of all 10 constituent colleges including vice-president Amrendra Singh, Durga Prasad, Nagesh, KK Pandey, Chandrakant Ray and Rita Kumari addressed the meeting and supported the decision to protest for the demands.
Jharkhand State Universities, Colleges Non-Teaching Employees Federation general secretary Anil Kumar was also present at the meeting and supported the agitation of BBMKU Non-Teaching Employees.
Sanjay Jha resented that no promotion has been given to the non-teaching employees so far but their services are being taken as of senior officers. “So, we would request V-C to fix the responsibility of the employees,” he said.
The Association alleged that senior officers of the university and colleges misbehave and insult the non-teaching staff for no reason. The delegation would also complain to the vice-chancellor about the misbehaviour of the seniors with the junior staff in the university as well as colleges.
