Dhanbad, Nov 24: Career and Development Centre (CDC) and LEO Club BIT Sindri jointly organised a career development session in which the director, senior faculty members and XLRI expert guided the final year and 3rd year B Tech students on how to sell themselves in the competitive world after graduating.
Chief speaker NK Mehta, an engineering graduate from BIT Sindri and MBA from XLRI, while addressing the students guided them on how they can develop interpersonal skills and etiquette to sell themselves in the competitive corporate world. He also motivated the students on how they can develop their communication skills to get an edge on others in competition.
“Confidence is the key to communication. Always show you are confident. Eye contact and a firm handshake can be the best ways to convey it,” Mehta suggested to students in the session.
He also advised students to always do background research before giving an interview and dress up according to the occasion. Mehta also guided the students to show proper body language during a formal conversation/interview and have open body language.
“Determination and continuous learning can beat all talent. So keep trying and never give up,” he said.
Notably, NK Mehta got certification in finance, HR, Sales and Marketing from Loyola Institute of Business (LIBA), Chennai and Corporate Trainer from Indian Administrative Training and Development (IATD), Chennai.
He is a first-generation entrepreneur who is passionate about continuous learning and development. He has been accorded with ‘Most Impactful Tech Leaders’ award from Tech Plus Media.
BIT director DK Singh on the occasion advised the students to keep a positive approach and develop skills for solving problems on the spot as per the situation.
CDC chairman Prof Ghanshyam said that after passing out they (students) have to brand themselves for selling themselves in a competitive corporate world. They should have the problem-solving skills to think in critical situations and take decisions immediately.
