Dhanbad: BJP to hold two-day Mahila Morcha Working Committee meeting from Feb 11

Dhanbad, Feb 10: The state BJP president Deepak Prakash, Rashtriya Mahila Morcha general secretary Indu Goswami (MP), national secretary Arti Singh, regional organisational secretary Nagendra Tripathi along with hosts of senior leaders, MPs, MLAs of the party would participate in two-day Jharkhand State Mahila Morcha Working Committee meeting scheduled to be held in Dhanbad from tomorrow.

Though the BJP state Mahila Morcha leaders called it a routine meeting of the organisation, a party insider said that a special session would be held during the two-day conclave in which Morcha’s top national and state leaders along with BJP state committee would review the performance of women candidates in 2019 assembly election and discuss over prospect in the 2024 election.

In the 2019 assembly election, BJP contested 64 seats and fielded seven women candidates of which three of them – Aparna Sengupta (Nirsa), Meera Yadav and Pushpa Devi (Chhatarpur) won. 

However, four candidates Ragni Singh (Jharia), Luis Marandi (Dumka), Menka  Sardar (Potka) and Reeta Devi Munda (Tamar) had to face defeat.

BJP had contested in alliance with AJSU and given it 16 seats out of 80.

“Besides other issues, at the two-day working committee meeting, Mahila Morcha would hold a lengthy discussion on expansion and strengthening organisation and informing the people about the welfare programme done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi government for women,” said the Jharkhand Mahila Morch state president Arti Kujur.

The state president Arti Kujur said that besides national leaders, Dhanbad MP PN Singh, Aditya Sahu (MP) state vice-president and Nirsa MLA Aparna Sengupta, Sadar MLA Raj Sinha, District Board chairman Sharda Singh and Ragni Singh would also participate.

The BJP district president (urban) Chandrashekhar Singh said that the Dhanbad meeting of State Mahila Morcha would leave a major impact on the organisation expansion of the party in the region.  

Women, especially the new generation would be able to know the ideology and development work being done by the central government for women.
