Dhanbad, Sept 13: Indefinite dharna by Dhanbad-Bokaro B.Ed Colleges students for writing off 25% fee at Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) main gate continued on the third day on Monday.
More than a hundred agitating B.Ed students (boys and girls) of both the districts, who have been sitting at the university gate since Saturday, said that they would continue their dharna until the university writes off 25% fee of all the students.
Vice-chancellor Kamal John Lakra (Commissioner, North Chotanagpur division Hazaribagh) was scheduled to talk with agitating students on the issue today but he did not come to the university. Students announced to continue until the vice-chancellor announced writing off a 25% fee.
B.Ed education is being imparted in three constituent colleges of BBMKU at RSP College Jharia, SLLNT Women’s College Dhanbad and Bokaro Steel City College Bokaro, besides over dozen affiliated institutions.
In the wake of the ongoing indefinite dharna of students at the university gate, the examination of B.Ed third semester 2019-21 session which was scheduled from today was cancelled  by the university.

Agitating students, who have already got scholarships from the government are demanding 25% reduction in B.Ed fee at par with general students. A senior authority of the university said that double benefits can’t be given to students. Those who have been given scholarships can’t get a rebate in fees.
BBMKU registrar Vikash Kumar told media persons on Monday that scholarship has been given to students on the basis of B.Ed course fee. Now no other relaxation in fee could be provided.  It has been made clear even on the Chancellor Portal, he said.
