Dhanbad, April 14: Six contractual government doctors, including a homoeopathic physician have landed in trouble after they were caught giving service in a corporate nursing home, Asian Jalan Hospital of the district.
Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr Alok Vishwakarma has slapped a show cause notice to all six doctors to reply in 72 hours. “The action would be taken against them if their reply is not found satisfactory,” said the Civil Surgeon.
The doctors who have been slapped notice are Dr Kumar Gautam, Dr Naushad Alam ( both on deputation at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital ), Dr Pravin Kumar, posted at community health centre Topchanchi, Dr Puja Kushwaha posted at Raghunathpur PHC, Tundi block, Dr Gaurav Kumar Das, posted at the community health centre (CHC) Baliapur and homoeopathic physician Dr Shanjay Kumar Ray posted at PHC Kenduadih.
Late at night on April 11 Civil Surgeon Dr Vishwakarma caught homoeopathic physician Dr Sanjay Kumar Ray red-handed while giving duty in the emergency ward at Asian Jalan Hospital, Bartand. When he sought the list of doctors, their designation and qualification from Asian Jalan Hospital, the names of the other five government doctors were also found in it.
The Civil Surgeon made a sudden inspection of the five CHCs, based in the remote area of the district on April 11 (after 12 am). Doctors at all five CHCs were found absent from their night duty. In the course of the inspection, Dr Vishwakarma also raided the city-based corporate nursing home Asian Jalan Hospital at 3 am and caught homoeopathic physician Dr Sanjay on spot.
“Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of Health, Director in-Chief of Health and Regional Deputy Director (RDD) of Health North Chotanagpur Division, Hazaribag have been informed about the show cause notice to doctors,” said Dr Vishwakarma.
The district health department has swung into action against the duty absconding doctors after an infant died at Topchanchi CHC after delivery due to the absence of a doctor at night.
