Shahbaz, a resident of Naya Bazaar, was shot in his waist near the house cum office of his coal business partner Pappu Mandal in Vikash Nagar. No one saw the shooter. Local residents informed the police about the incident. The reason why Shahbaz had gone to the office of his business partner at late night is still a mystery. Police have yet to ascertain whether Shahbaz was on a bike or foot when the incident took place.

“Police are investigating the incident from different angles. Only after the proper probe, we can jump to any conclusion,” said PK Singh to media persons.

Residents of Naya Bazar said that Shahbaz was involved in the illegal coal business with Pappu Mandal. A few months ago, Prince Khan of Wasseypur had his goons fire on Pappu Mandal’s house for alleged extortion demand. It is also said that he might have injured himself in accidental firing by his illegal pistol.

Shahbaz belonged to Banaras (Uttar Pradesh). His father is a loco pilot in Dhanbad Rail Division and was living in the railway quarter of Naya Bazar. Shahbaz had constructed his own house somewhere else.
