Dhanbad, July 27: The Coal Mines Officers Association (CMOA) of Bharat Coking Coal Limited threatened to launch an agitation if any action is not taken against the ex-deputy mayor of Dhanbad Eklavya Singh for misbehaving with the general manager (GM) of Bhowra Colliery Area SS Das.

CMOA president AK Singh said that the coal officers’ body is waiting for the action of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) on the incident. ”The course of action would be decided based on the step to be initiated by SSP and BCCL management,” he said.

Former deputy mayor Eklavya Singh, who is the brother-in-law of Jharia Congress MLA Purnima Singh, allegedly abused and threw a water bottle on Colliery GM SS Das on Tuesday evening during the meeting over the issue of displaced persons in the Bhowra Colliery Area office, around 17 km away from district headquarters. The CISF personnel present on the spot rescued the GM from Eklavya Singh and his men.

Later, GM SS Das filed a named FIR in Sudamdih police station against Eklavya Singh and six others.

Taking the incident seriously, the Coal Mines Officers Association held an emergency meeting at Bhowra guest house on Tuesday evening and decided to give a memorandum to the SSP.  A delegation of CMOA also met the chairman cum managing director of BCCL Samiran Dutta and requested him to ensure the safety of the officers working in the field.

“CMOA has decided to launch agitation against such incident as working in such atmosphere is impossible,” said AK Singh.

Notably, Eklavya Singh is facing several criminal cases including abduction and extortion charges.
