SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, Oct 31: Cosmetic goods worth Rs 40-45 lakh were gutted when a fire broke out in a cosmetic distribution house in the posh Bank More market of coal city under Bank More police station on Monday morning.

The eye witness said the fire was spotted at around 4 am on Monday. The shop owner Vijay Kheria told media persons that he was informed about the incident at 6 am and reached the market in no time but all goods had already been damaged before fire tenders doused the fire.

The exact reason behind the fire could not be ascertained immediately but shop owner Vijay Kheria expressed apprehension that firecrackers which were burnt by people on the occasion of the Chhath festival in the morning might have caused it.

“Though my shop ’Laxami Narayan Store’ was completely gutted in the fire, I am waiting for a police probe. Only after assessing the damage, I could estimate the actual damage,” he said.

’Laxami Narayan Store’ is situated near Ray Talkies, adjacent to over bridge. Traders fear that the fire could have inflicted serious damage in the market if it had not been checked timely as there are a series of shops attached to it.
