Dhanbad, Oct 31: The Camouflage Gallant team of Chaitanya bagged the first position in the ‘Operation Campaign’ competition of the IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM).
Mic Drop-the official public speaking club of Student’s Gymkhana of IIT (ISM) had organised the ‘ Operation Campaign contest at Golden Jubilee Lecture Theatre on the eve of the mega event Geo Mining Fest of India-Khanan-22 scheduled from November 3-6.
Prof Rajni Singh, chairman of the media and branding wing of the IIT ISM said that altogether 10 students teams of institutions took part in the event competing against each other solving problems for the hypothetical coastline country situated in West Africa. The country faced a number of military coups before 2000 and are again facing a crisis due to inflation, an increase in international prices of commodities and the withdrawal of forces by one of its trusted friendly nation.
In the contest, the participants were asked to run an election campaign for the presidential elections, and prepare a manifesto suggesting the panacea for all the ills afflicting the beleaguered West African nations.
The Chaitanya-led team which got the first position had suggested a comprehensive solution through sweeping economic and energy sector reforms for bailing out these beleaguered nations.
The second position was bagged by the Sovereign Reformation Coalition team comprising of Deveshi Singh and Ishita Paliwal, who mooted the idea for self-sustainability of the economy besides tackling the problem of terrorism threat being posed by a neighbouring country.
The team Bengal Regime of Udayan Chatterjee, Pritam Chakraborty and Sayantan Sengupta got the third position by suggesting the idea of delocalisation of power and comprehensive financial and national security. They also suggested a new market as well as a military set-up.
A panel of judges comprising of the president of Mic Drop Moaz Akhtar and Pranav Tripathi declared the winners on the basis of the inventiveness and pertinence of their solutions, confidence and cogency of the election speech. Team members’ ability to tackle questions of the audience and judges, presentation skills of the contestants were also scanned during the contest.
Prof Singh said that the mega event Khanan-22 is being organised by IIT ISM in association with Technology Innovation Hub-TEXMiN, Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME-USA India Chapter) and CIL Innovation and Incubation Centre.
The four-day fest which will be attended by over 100 industry representatives and over 500 Technophiles will witness a host of technical events, panel discussions, lectures by eminent personalities of the industry and numerous competitions.
