Dhanbad, Feb 28: The court of District and Session judge Rajkumar Mishra today awarded a life sentence and fine of Rs 10,000 each to five members of a family for killing a milkman two years ago.
The names of the accused are Sudama Yadav, his son Rakesh Kumar Yadav, Rajesh Kumara Yadav, Vikash Kumar Yadav and Rupesh Kumar Yadav.
They killed 50-year-old Vimal Yadav with an axe over a dispute for dumping dung on the road.
The court had held all five guilty in the case on February 25 and reserved the order for announcing the quantum of punishment for February 28 today.
As per the FIR lodged in Dhanbad police station on June 1, 2021, by Santosh Kumar Yadav, elder brother of Vimal Yadav, his younger brother (Vimal) had gone to sell milk in Mangal Vihar Colony in the morning around 7:30 am on a fateful day. At 8 am, an unidentified person informed him through the phone that his brother is lying in the drain.
He was informed that all five accused had attacked Vimal Yadav. The axe used in the crime was also found. Vimal Yadav was first admitted to Jalan Hospital and later referred to mission Hospital Durgapur where he succumbed to his injury.
