Dhanbad, April 3: Rattled by increasing menace, the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation has decided to get geo-tagging of stray bulls roaming in the coal city.
The DMC has hired Ramanand Welfare Society, a private agency, to conduct survey of stray bulls wandering on roads in the coal city and prepare their list for rescue and proper rehabilitation in scheduled frame of time.
Dr Dheeraj Kumar, a senior official of Ramanand Welfare Society, said the agency has so far conducted survey in three major areas of the coal city – Hirapur, near IIT ISM and Bartand and found 40 stray bulls on roads and lanes. On trial basis, the agency rescued one bull successfully two days ago. The survey would be conducted in other areas of the coal city too.
In last six months, stray bulls have killed three people, including a old lady in Hirapur Hatia (vegetable market) and injured over dozen people.
The agency official said the rescue operation would be conducted at late night so that people of the area especially traffic movement does get affected.
After rescuing the bulls, agency would hand over the Goshalla of district for their care. “Right from rescuing bulls and hand them over to the Goshalla management, the entire process would be done through geo-tracking. The list of rescued bulls would be given to the Municipal Corporation and the Goshalla management, The DMC would pay Rs 3500 to the Goshalla for each bull for its care.
“ In the second phase, the DMC would launch stray cows’ rescue,” said an official.
