Dhanbad, July 30: The SSLNT Women’s College debarred a girl examinee from appearing in the examination. The girls’s guardian had beat up a senior professor, staff and guard of the institution over the alleged missing mobile phone during examination.
As the girl appeared for the examination again, the invigilators recognized her and informed Principal Dr Sharmila Rani. The principal then contacted the concerned higher authorities of the university administration (BBMKU) and after getting their nod, debarred the student from taking the examination.
Reportedly, the college administration took the drastic step due to pressure from the Federation of Universities Teachers Association of Jharkhand (FUTAJ). Senior teachers of BBMKU and Prof NK Singh, president of FUTAJ, had strongly condemned the assault on teachers and demanded action against the student.
The said girl is a BA Semester-3 student of PK Roy Memorial College whose expensive mobile had allegedly gone missing during the examination at SSLNT Women’s College on July 25.
PK Roy Memorial College had a centre at SSLNT Women’s College. The student appeared to take the exam and kept her handbag out of the hall. When she came out after writing her paper, she found that her mobile was missing. She informed the invigilators who suggested she should meet the principal who was reportedly gone away from college at that time.
Two hours later, in the evening, her guardian along with his four henchmen forcefully entered the college and beat up a senior professor cum examination controller along with other teachers, staff and security guard.
Principal Dr Sharmila Rani filed an FIR in the Sadar police station on the same night. It is said that the examinee was also seen in the CCTV footage during the commotion on the campus but the principal did not add her name to the FIR.
