Dhanbad: Guardian assaults SSLNT Women’s College professor over examinee’s missing mobile

Dhanbad, July 26: A guardian along with his goons assaulted the senior professor cum examination controller of SSLNT Women’s College and beat up guards over an alleged missing mobile phone of a girl examinee. The incident occurred at around 6 pm on Monday.

The principal of the college Dr Sharmila Rani in this regard filed an FIR against contractor Sanjay Gupta and his four henchmen at Sadar police station last night. The police are investigating the incident on the basis of the college’s CCTV footage.

As per the complaint lodged in the police station, The guardian along with his henchmen abused and assaulted Dr Sarita, a staff of the examination department, for the alleged missing mobile of an examinee. He also snatched the mobile phone of Dr Sarita, who is the head of the department of economics.

Police reached the college and got the accused out of the campus. Under police pressure, the contractor also returned her mobile phone to the professor.

SSLNT Women’s college is merely around 10 metres away opposite the residence of the senior superintendent of police (SSP).

UG Semester-3 examination is under progress at Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University. PK Roy Memorial College had a centre at SSLNT Women’s College on Monday. The girl examinee claimed that her mobile was in a bag which she had kept at the gate of the examination hall. When she came out after the exam, her mobile was missing from the bag.

She immediately informed the teachers about it who suggested her to inform the principal. Mobile phone is banned on the campus of the Women’s College.

Men’s entry is completely banned on campus. However, the main accused Sanjay Gupta, who is said to be a university contractor, stormed inside the college on his Scorpio along with four henchmen. When the guard tried to stop the vehicle, they beat him and dragged him to the office where examination controller Dr Shobha Sarita was preparing for the next day’s examination.

The CCTV shows the presence of the student too during the incident but principal Dr Sharmila Rani did not name her in the FIR.
