Dhanbad, Sept 12: A team of Mumbai police arrested a woman from Nirsa block around 35 km away from the district headquarters in connection with a cyber crime on Tuesday afternoon.
The Mumbai police team under a senior officer reached Nirsa police station today in the morning and with the help of local police personnel raided the house of Belchadhi village and arrested the accused woman.
The police team after completing arresting formalities at the Nirsa police station, brought her to Dhanbad duly. The police officer who refused to share his identity with media persons said that the arrested woman would be produced in a Dhanbad court to take away her to Mumbai on transit remand.
This is the first time a woman for cyber fraud has been arrested from Jharkhand by an out-of-the state police.
Reportedly the woman of Belchadhi village has been arrested in connection with using her account for cyber crime of money transaction. A local police officer said that a syndicate is active in the area who takes ATM cards and passbooks of innocent women and use them for transactions and cheat money of people.
The Belchadhi woman’s account was also being used for cheating money by cyber criminals.
The Mumbai police in the course of an investigation of a cyber crime committed with a Mumbai resident found the name of Belchadhi woman as the account holder through which the money was transacted.
