Dhanbad, Jan 6: Students’ organisations of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal Unversity (BBMKU) Dhanbad are on boil after the principal of Katras College lodged FIRs against NSUI and ABVP in Katras police station fearing danger to his life.

Notably, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) and Akhil Bharati Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) both have refuted the allegation of the principal and sought an apology from him for defaming the organizations.

Moreover, NSUI pleaded that ABVP created all commotion on the campus but the principal unnecessarily dragged it into the controversy which saved him from an unruly organisation (ABVP).

At the same time, ABVP alleged that it has done nothing on the campus which showed any danger to the principal. Its activists only protested the permission of the principal to NSUI.

Both the student organizations are face to face over holding an ‘Induction Meet’ of students in the college.  NSUI has got permission for holding meet while ABVP is opposing. Both organisations are heading for a showdown on the issue.

The principal Dr Gyan Chandra Ray has filed a written complaint in Katras police station fearing danger to his life saying that NSUI and ABVP activists are creating terror on the campus daily over the issue of ‘Induction Meet’.

NSUI district president Gopal Krishna has strongly refuted the allegation and threatened to launch an agitation if the principal does not tender an apology.

“We had on December 21st applied for the programme to the principal and he fixed the date as January 15. A student organization (ABVP) began a protest of the ‘induction Meet’ programme of NSUI and even gheraoed principal on January 4 and threatened to attack guests, and sabotage the function. NSUI had no role in it but the principal dragged us along with ABVP,” said Gopal Krishna.

NSUI Katras College president Sinku Khan, Rohit Pathak, general secretary Danish Reja, Akash Pandit, district president Ravi Paswan, Ayush Singh, Devendra Paswan, and Raj Ranjan Singh were also present during the media talk.

However, ABVP state committee member Prerna Sona and district coordinator Anshu Tiwary said that  NSUI has announced an Induction programme in the college and is realizing Rs 250  per student which is illegal. “No individual organization should be allowed official function on the campus as it would create anarchy in the institution if all students organization begins to do it. So ABVP opposes it and had requested the principal to not permit it,” said Anshu Tiwary.

Prerna Sona said ABVP is not against the Induction programme but wants the principal to hold it under his supervision, not NSUI.
