Dhanbad, April 13: Dhanbad POCSO awarded a 20-year jail sentence to a minor rape-accused youth identified as Rajkumar Singh resident of the Tetulari area of the district in connection with three years old case.

The Special Judge of POCSO court Prabhakar Singh while delivering the order also slapped Rs 7,000 as a penalty on accused Rajkumar Singh besides jail term. The judge had held guilty to Rajkumar Singh in the case on April 11 and reserved the order for the quantum of punishment for today.

As per FIR lodged by the victim minor’s mother in Tetulmari police station on March 21, 2020, the accused abducted the girl in the morning at around 9 am when she had gone for worship in a nearby Shiva temple.

In course of the search, the mother was informed that the accused took the girl away to his house in the Jamui district of Bihar. When contacted Rajkumar Singh admitted that girl was with him but threatened dire consequences if she informed the police. However, Tetulmari police recovered the girl from his possession.

The victim girl alleged that she was raped by him. Police filed charge–sheet on August 31, 2020 and the case was framed in court on March 24, 2021. A total of four witnesses appeared in the court.
