Dhanbad, Feb 16: POCSO court today awarded a 20-year jail term to a youth accused in connection with abducting and raping a minor girl.

The court of Special judge Prabhakar Singh, while fixing the punishment today, also slapped a fine of Rs 7,000 on accused Rajkumar Mahto, besides the 20-year jail term.

The court on Wednesday held the accused guilty and today announced the quantum of punishment.

As per the FIR lodged in Baliapur police station on January 23, 2022, the accused called the girl on the telephone and took her away to Gujarat. The victim girl alleged that there the accused raped her repeatedly.

After the investigation, Baliapur police filed a charge sheet in a court on April 4, 2022.

The public prosecutor examined five witnesses in the case during the trial.
