Dhanbad, March 2: Special judge of Dhanbad POCSO court Prabhakar Singh on Thursday awarded a minor rape accused Vijay Tudu 20 years jail sentence and a fine of Rs 5,000 in a four-year-old case.

The additional public prosecutor (APP) said that the court had held the youth guilty in the case on Wednesday (March 28) and reserved the announcement on the quantum of punishment for today.

As per FIR lodged in Kalubathan police station on May 19, 2019, the accused Vijay Tudu found the minor girl alone in the house on the morning of  May 18 and committed the crime with her.

After getting an alarm raised by the girl, her neighbour rescued her but the accused managed to escape from the spot. However, after an investigation, Kalubathan police filed a charge sheet against Vijay Tudu in court on July 30, 2019.

APP told media persons that seven witnesses were cross-examined in the case and today the court announced the quantum of punishment.
