Dhanbad: POCSO court awards 22-year jail term to rapists

Dhanbad, Feb 21: Dhanbad POCSO court today awarded a 22-year jail term and a fine of Rs 7,000 each to two accused of abduction and rape with a minor boy in a four-year-old case.

The Special Judge of POCSO Court Prabhakar Singh while delivering the judgement awarded both the accused Prakash Singh alias Pintu and Opal Rajwar five-year jail term and a fine of Rs 2000 each for the abduction of the boy and a 22-year jail sentence and a fine of Rs 5,000 each for unnatural sex.

The court had held both the accused guilty in the case on Monday and reserved the announcement of the quantum of punishment for Tuesday today.

As per FIR lodged by the 13-year-old victim boy’s mother in Baliapur police station on February 3, 2019, both the accused abducted him on January 28, 2019. The boy had gone to tailor in the market alone.

When he did not return house after a long time family members began to search for him. Finally, the boy was found at Jayrampur roundabout in an unconscious condition. He was admitted to the hospital and an FIR was lodged at the police station against both the accused.
