Dhanbad, May 6: Dhanbad police on Friday arrested four criminals for demanding extortion from Dr Samir Kumar.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Sanjiv Kumar, has informed that the accused has been identified as Bir Bahadur Singh alias Biru, Sirajuddin, Banti Ansari and Iliyas.
Bir Bahhadur Singh belongs to Ajamgarh of Uttar Pradesh, Sirajuddin from Kolkata of Bengal whereas Banti Ansari and Illiyas are from Jharia of Dhanbad.
Ansari and Illiyas are history sheeters and have been monitoring activities of Dr Samir before demanding the extortion money. The SSP added that they were in touch with Aman Singh and his gang.
He added that with the help from cyber cell the four culprits were arrested and the team will arrest other members involved in the case soon.
The criminals had demanded Rs 1 crore from the owner of Suyash Clinic, Dr Samir Kumar, and threatened him and his family for dire consequences if he failed to pay by May 2.
Indian Medical Association (IMA) Dhanbad has announced to shut down all private nursing homes and health clinics from May 9 in protest against the extortion demands and exodus of doctors.
