Dhanbad, Dec 24: “Reading and writing habit keeps major significance in the mental development of people,” these were the words of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) vice-chancellor Sukhdeo Bhoi while inaugurating the three-day ‘Little Magazine Fair and Festival’ at Lindsay Club.
The VC said that hosting of little magazine fair, and holding discussions on literature by noted litterateurs are encouraging, appreciable and positive signs at this juncture when the digital revolution is replacing everything.
“We should a keep habit of reading magazines and writing to ensure our mental development,” said Sukhdeo Bhoi.
The fair has been jointly organized by Lindsay Club Dhanbad and Shilpey Ananya Publishing house. Over a hundred publishing houses and noted litterateurs, poets, authors and dramatists are participating in this three-day mega event.
Guest of honour on the occasion, Dr Soumitra Kumar Choudhary, retired medical scientist of Chittaranjan Cancer Institute Kolkata, appreciated the step of organisers and said that such types of fair (Little Magazine) will not only attract and encourage people about it but also provide a platform to litterateurs to discuss various topics and strengthening the reading habit.
Prof BG Mazumdar (Tripura), Prof Rahuldev Mandal, Swamy Nityanand of Bharat Sevashram Dumka, Alok Banerjee, Dr Kashinath Chatterjee, the national general secretary of Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti, Prof Dipak Kumar Sen, the editor of Shilpey Ananya magazine, Dr Amlendu Kumar Sinha, the former director of Central Institute of Mining Fuel Research also graced the occasion and addressed the function.
The inaugural function of the fair also saw the release of ‘Amar Kavita’ written by Manoj Mazumdar.
Over three dozen stalls have been set up in the fair in which Artrik, Madhyabala (Chhattisgarh), Dana (Bengal) Maul (Bankura, West Bengal), Shilpey Ananya, Barnmala, Saily (Dhanbad) have displayed their books. The books of noted author late Ajit Ray have also been put up.
