Dhanbad, June 8: For the first time, a restaurant in Dhanbad got a 5 star hygiene rating certificate from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
While releasing the list, Dhanbad SDM Prem Kumar Tiwari told media persons that two outlets of Jubilant Foods got a five-star hygiene rating certificate, and three others including Dhanbad Club Limited, Hotel The Castle and Nawabi Jayka restaurant were given four-star hygiene rating certificates.
In the audit, Jubilant Foods got 81 to 100% marks while Dhanbad Club Limited, Hotel The Castle and Nawabi Jayka got 61 to 80% marks.
“The audit of hotels, restaurants and sweets shops of the district was conducted in March this year. On the basis of their hygiene condition and other standards, the rating was given to the establishments. The hygiene rating certificate was presented to them on World Food Safety Day,” said SDM Prem Kumar Tiwari.
FSSAI hygiene rating scheme is transparent scoring and rating process which certifies food businesses on the basis of their food safety compliance and allow consumers to make informed choices. The scheme applies to food businesses supplying food to consumers either on or off the premises under hygiene and safety conditions.
A senior official of FSSAI of the state said that hygiene rating reflects the standards of food hygiene found on the date of inspection by the local authority or third party audit agency.
District food safety officer Aditi Singh informed that Caveri Restaurant, Hotel Quality, and Red Chilli Restaurant along with other 16 restaurants got 41 to 61% marks and were given a three-star hygiene rating certificate.
