Dhanbad, April 27: Dr S Chandrashekhar, secretary to the government of India, science and technology department will inaugurate Technology Innovation in Exploration and Mining (TEXMIN) of IIT Indian School of Mines(ISM) tomorrow.
An IIT ISM official today said that Prof Jeremy Kilburn of Provost, Curtin University, Australia would be the guest of honour on this auspicious occasion.
Saifullah Ansari, director (MSE), Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) will be the special guest. IIT ISM director Prof Rajiv Shekhar and the deputy director will also grace the inaugural function of TEXMIN.
‘TEXMIN’, the IIT ISM official said, is a technology innovation hub at IIT ISM which was set up under the National Mission for Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical System of the DST.
The official said TEXMIN had been set up three years ago in 2020 but officially it would be inaugurated tomorrow. “ In the last three years, TEXMIN IIT ISM has developed and promoted indigenous technologies for the Indian and exploration sector. Many of its products are used in the mining industry including government bodies, PSU and Private companies in the country,” said an IIT ISM official.
Innovation at TEXMIN is being commercialized through start-ups. This has led to 1000+ job creations and CPS technology trained individuals.
The key technologies developed by TEXMIN, the official said, are Surveillance and Monitoring Solutions for enhancing safety and productivity. Bidaal lence for monitoring mine activities and identifying unsafe activities, web enabled illumination surveying equipment, Smart management in land-vehicle equipment, fuel tracker, pilferage tracker.
TEXMIN IIT ISM has also developed an innovative method for the conversion of coal to ultra-high-quality graphene. A state of art Real Time 3D mapping and compliance monitoring solution ( Geospatial Data Processing) has been developed.
