Dhanbad, Sept 3: Smoke inside Dhanbad-Dehri On Sone Intercity Express train at Tetulmari railway station between Dhanbad – Gomoh Section under Dhanbad Rail Division caused panic among passengers on Saturday morning.
The train started from Dhanbad railway station at 6 am for Dehri –On Sone and reportedly when smoke began emanating as the train left the platform.
The eyewitness passengers said that as the train was crossing near Tetulmari railway station, a sheet of smoke began emanating. According to them, the smoke was emitting beneath the 4th bogey of the train. The panicked passengers immediately informed the TTE and the RPF escort party of the train.
As the train reached Gomoh Junction, passengers got down from bogey in a jiffy. The railway authorities of Gomoh were already informed. The technical snag of the bogey was repaired and the train was set off for Dehri-On Sone.
The railway officers of the Gomoh Junction told the media that it was a minor snag. Sometimes, when the axle gets heated then smoke begins emanating. So, it might be the reason for the smoke, according to them.
“However, if the smoke is not detected in time, it can lead to fire,” the official said while requesting anonymity.
The railway official further said that the train got delayed hardly 30 minutes at Gomoh rail station and was then set off for Dehri –On Sone.
The Dhanbad Divisional Railway public relation officer PK Mishra, when contacted, ruled out having information about such an incident.
