Dhanbad, April 7: Raj Kaur (38), wife of Digwadih Gurudwara management committee head Ranjit Singh allegedly committed suicide in her father’s house in Dumri 4 Number area under Jorapokhar police station, around 22 km away from here on Friday morning.
A senior police official of Jorapokhar police station said that Raj Kaur was found hanging in her room at her father’s house at around 6 am. After getting information the police reached the spot and took the body in their possession. A family dispute is said to be the reason behind the drastic step of the woman.
Digwadih Gurudwara management committee head Ranjit Singh told media persons that his marriage was solemnized with Raj Kaur in 2015 and she had been living with her father since February 2022 after filing a case in the Dhanbad Woman’s Police station against him. They have a six-year-old daughter who lives with her father in Digwadih.
Jorapokhar police station officer in charge Binod Oraon, who assumed charge of the police station today, said that the body has been sent for post-mortem at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH). “Only after getting a post-mortem report and investigation of the incident police would jump to any conclusion of suicide,” he said.
